Proof of Registration for History and Heritage Student Scholarship Night
A recommendation letter from an ASCE Faculty Advisor is strongly preferred

Topic:
The cities of the present are constructed on the foundations of the cities of the past. Meaningful improvements can be made to our cities and towns utilizing knowledge and solutions that currently exist. Propose 3 improvements that cities and towns could implement now or in the near future that would make them more sustainable, connected, accessible, lively, community-focused places to live. Improvements may include but are not limited to infrastructure, transportation,
housing, urban planning and development, socioeconomics, etc.
A student cannot win the same achievement award two consecutive years. However, if the student was awarded 2nd or 3rd place last year, they are eligible to apply.
CANDIDATE EVALUATION CRITERIA
ASCE Involvement/Leadership - 10%
Video - 50%
Grades - 10%
Civil Engineering Activities (University & Professional) - 10%
Community Involvement/Volunteerism - 10%
On-time Registration for History & Heritage Night - 10%
The candidates will be evaluated based on the above criteria.
AWARD
The ASCE Orange County Branch Achievement Award will be honored in the form of a check payable to the individual student and presented at the ASCE Orange County Branch History & Heritage / Student Night Dinner on November 7th, 2024. A short bio and professional photo will be required for awarded applicants.
Awards will be given to the students in approximately the following amounts: *
1st Place Qualified Candidate: Up to $3,000 (Gary Gilbert Memorial Scholarship)
2nd Place Qualified Candidate: Up to $2,000
3rd Place Qualified Candidate: Up to $1,000
*Note: The money allocation is subject to change, and will vary depending on the number of students applying for the scholarship. There may be more candidates awarded than indicated above.
