REQUIREMENTS
Civil Engineering or Construction Management Major
Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Full-Time Graduate Student at a Southern California college or university
Current ASCE Member. Please describe your involvement in ASCE in your application package
Proof of Registration for History and Heritage Student Scholarship Night.

6-8 minute video presentation with PowerPoint presentation
Topic:
Please address all 3 questions in your video presentation.
Question #1: Construction challenges are common, and sometimes inevitable, throughout a project’s life cycle. What are 3 common challenges a project team may face? Explain the cause and propose the best solution for each challenge to ensure project success.
Question #2: Please describe your past or current construction experience (community service/internship/club leadership) and the skills you have gained that have prepared you to face and overcome future challenges in the construction industry.
Question #3: What (or who) inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
CANDIDATE EVALUATION CRITERIA
Video – 60%
Grades – 15%
ASCE Involvement – 15%
On-Time Registration for History Heritage Student Scholarship Night - 10%
The candidates will be evaluated based on the above criteria in general. The percentage of each criterion may be re-evaluated after the review panel is formed, with an emphasis on the Video. Candidates must submit a link to the video in their application.
AWARD
The Award will be given in the following amount: ASCE-OC Construction Institute Scholarship: Up to $1,500. Scholarship funds may be split awarded to two applicants.
Awards will be determined at the discretion of the review panel.
Awards to be presented at the ASCE-OC History and Heritage Student Scholarship Night on November 7th, 2024.
