The ASCE OC K-12 Outreach Committee had the privilege of visiting Valley High School in Santa Ana, where they engaged with 9th–12th grade students through an informative and interactive presentation on the field of civil engineering. The presentation aimed to inspire and educate students about the diverse career opportunities within civil engineering and the important role civil engineers play in shaping our communities.

The speakers covered a wide range of topics, offering insight into the different disciplines within civil engineering. They highlighted the unique challenges and responsibilities each discipline entails, along with examples of the types of projects civil engineers work on. Each presenter also shared what their day-to-day work looks like, giving students a realistic glimpse into their profession.

In addition to discussing the technical aspects of their roles, the presenters spoke about their educational journeys, outlining the steps they took to pursue engineering degrees and how their academic experiences prepared them for the real-world challenges they encounter in their careers.

A special thank‑you to our presenters Kevin Tasci, Celine Vong, Brian Marquez, Natalie Luna, and Shyam Patel for their presentations at Valley High School.
