Yazdan "Yaz" Emrani

Yazdan (Yaz) Emrani , PE was the president of the Orange County Branch from October 2006 to September 2007.  Yazdan also served as the Los Angeles Section president from October 2013 to September 2014.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Maryland at College Park. Yaz has been a member of ASCE since college and is the Chair of ASCE Orange County Branch's Public Infrastructure Coalition of Orange County (PIC OC).  In addition, he is an active member of American Public Works Association, Water Environment Federation, California Water Environment Association, and American Water Works Association. Yaz is also Past President of UCI's Civil and Environmental Engineering Affiliates (CEE).  During his term as the President of the UCI CEE, he helped launch the joint UCI/ASCE initiative for developing a comprehensive infrastructure report card for Orange County.and served as the Chair of the Executive Committee for the Report Card effort . This effort also involved participation by members of APWA, Orange County Business Council, and California Rebuild America Coalition.

Yaz has experience working on a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure technology (IT) projects. His engineering background includes planning, design, and construction management of infrastructure improvements for various public and private clients . In addition, his IT experiences include numerous projects in Geographic Information Management Systems (GIS), and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Yaz started his career as a design engineer for a consulting engineering firm in Maryland and since then has had increased levels of responsibilities including senior executive positions in Public Works for several national engineering firms.  His projects have covered a wide geographical area in United States, including projects in states of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia , Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Hawaii and California. He is a registered professional engineer in California, Maryland, Virginia, Louisiana, and Texas. Yaz currently works to Hall & Foreman in Tustin.

Yaz 's goals for the branch as president included:

  • Increasing the education and outreach programs designed to enhance public's awareness of the importance of on-going investment in our public infrastructure.

  • Increasing the synergy and cooperation between ASCE and other engineering and professsional organizations with regards to issues of importance facing all Civil Engineers.

  • Increasing membership and increasing participation by all members; as well as strengthening outreach programs ' to promote Civil Engineering among middle school and high school students.
