Tom Lake
Tom Lake was active in the American Society of Civil Engineers for many years and served as president of the Orange County Branch from October 1984 to September 1985.
Tom had an extensive military carrier. He served in WWII in the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in the Pacific and at Okinawa. During the Korean War he served in the Army as a drill instructor.
After his military service he attended the University of Illinois obtaining a BSCE degree in 1951. He became a registered civil engineer and geotechnical engineer in California.
In 1952, Tom began working for Converse Foundation Engineering, presently known as Converse Consultants. He continued employment with Converse until 1983 when he retired as a principal engineer with a 1/5th ownership in the firm. Then he opened T. D. Lake and Assoc. and continued in this business as a geotechnical engineer until 1987. He then lived in Desert Hot Springs until his death.
Thomas David Lake, P. E., M. ASCE, died on April 5, 2005 at Desert Hot Springs, California. He was born at Rock Island, IL on April 28, 1923.
