JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Redlands is seeking a seasoned and well-rounded professional to oversee the Municipal Utility and Engineering Department (MUED). This position oversees a total of 98 staff in the combined areas of utilities (water and wastewater) and engineering with an overall operating budget of $117.5 million with $73 million allocated to CIP projects over the next year. Top candidates for final selection will have strong operational experience, ethical leadership, and be comfortable and confident working in a vibrant, fast-moving, and high-performance organization. This position reports directly to the City Manager. Under general direction, the Director plans, manages, directs, oversees, and coordinates the activities of the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department, including administration, engineering, water production, treatment and distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment and laboratory analysis. The Director also provides highly complex staff assistance to the City Manager in addition to the day-to-day leadership and management of all Department staff.
The annual salary range for this position is $204,816 to $273,864. The City will be offering a $10,000 hiring incentive. The City of Redlands also offers an attractive benefits package, including CalPERS retirement.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 7 years of increasingly responsible management and supervisory experience in the administration of municipal utility operations, including 5 years in a public agency. A Master's degree is desirable. Professional registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California is preferred.
