This project provides an extension of the Venta Spur Trail across the State Route 133 (SR-133) freeway/toll road and Marshburn Channel which is a key element of the City of Irvine's Master Plan for Open Space and Trails. The trail connects adjacent communities with a Class I bikeway and pedestrian bridge between the Village of Woodbury East and the Great Park. It also provides access from the surrounding neighborhoods to Portola High School.At the west end of the project in the Woodbury Community, the Venta Spur Trail extends east from the existing 11-foot-wide off-street trail, crosses over the SR-133 toll road and stormwater channel, then connects to the 14-foot-wide Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) maintenance road adjacent to the Great Park neighborhoods.
