Jim Treadaway is the Director of Public Works for the County of Orange and has been with the County since August 2016. He joined the Public Works Department as Deputy Director, OC Facilities and was elevated to Director in June 2020. Under Jim’s leadership the County has undertaken eight major vertical projects ranging in value from $23M to $200M and seven major horizontal projects ranging in value from $2M to $96M.


Jim is an engineer’s engineer. Despite advancing through the management ranks, Jim continues to be a hands-on project manager who uses his technical roots as a structural engineer. Prior to joining OC Public Works, Jim was the Lead Bridge Engineer and Lead Construction Manager at the City of Los Angeles, Public Works. He was also a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy with the Construction Battalion/Seabees. Jim serves as a Board of Director for the ACE Non-Profit Mentor Program, which encourages careers in architecture, construction and engineering for high school students.
