Topic:
The period of Ranchos and Missions in California commenced in 1769 with the establishment of the first Spanish mission in the region then known as Alta California. The Spanish colonial government initiated the creation of extensive Ranchos. Following California's transition to Mexican governance, there was a significant increase in the establishment of new Ranchos. This era of Ranchos and Missions persisted until the late 1800s, leaving a profound influence on the
development of contemporary California. A notable example of this influence is evident in the names of numerous cities, streets, and natural landmarks. Describe how the legacy of the Rancho and Mission era continues to shape civil engineering, surveying, or urban planning in various ways today.
