How I Spent My First Month as ASCE OC's Board of Directors Secretary
By Greg Henk, PE
It’s been a busy first month as your Branch Secretary. I had the opportunity to participate in some K-12 activities including STEM, the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair, the National Academic Decathlon (held in OC), and Santa Ana School District’s AISS program.

I’ve also attended a number of luncheons including Life Member Forum, Sustainability Seminar and Transportation Panel. I enjoyed running in the nearly 200 mile Ragnar Relay Race as captain of the ASCE-OC's 12 person team.
The Safari Park Bridges outreach project continues to progress - we are looking for a lead structural engineer for this project (fairly basic bridge railing design). And, in seeking potential additional local community outreach projects, I’ve contacted a number of SoCal Native American Tribes regarding potential civil engineering design efforts on their reservations. I’ve contacted Rails-to-Trails and SoCal National Forests to see if they have a need for design services for needed Civil Engineering projects - all in cooperation with Engineers Without Boarders - OC.
