2015 Annual ASCE OC Golf Tournament – Another great year!

By Josue Vaglienty, P.E.

With almost 100 players (95 to be exact), we had a great turnout for the 2015 Annual ASCE OC Golf Tournament held this past June 19th at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, CA. Volunteers from ASCE OC-Branch, ASCE OC-Younger Member Forum (YMF), and ASCE Student Chapters (UC Irvine, CSU Long Beach and CSU Fullerton) were on hand to welcome all the players from local civil engineering firms, public agencies, and product/service vendors.  This year, all players received an exclusive ASCE – Orange County golf towel and shoe bag.

Every player was encouraged to have some breakfast before heading out to the course. Breakfast sandwiches, orange juice, and coffee were provided courtesy of our breakfast sponsor JL Patterson.

Once the rules and scramble play format were announced by Oak Creek, all the players rode their carts to their designated tees to kick off the tournament. Once again this year we had some great booth sponsors providing “support” to all players. C-Below’s booth provided a margarita station, along with the festive piñatas! Aerotek and WestPac Wealth Partners also provided goodies and cigars, respectively! Photos of each team (including “goofy” photos) were provided courtesy of Elizabeth Ruedas (CNC Engineering).

The banquet also featured raffle prizes that were awarded to the lucky winners which included new golf equipment, free rounds of golf at Oak Creek Golf Club, a gift certificate to Pelican Hill Golf Resort, wine from San Antonio Winery, an Amazon Kindle Fire, AMC Movie Passes, restaurant and retail gift cards, amongst other prizes.
