Volunteers wanted for the Academic Decathlon!
The Orange County Department of Education is seeking volunteers for the Academic Decathlon competition event on January 30, 2016. Each year they seek to engage educators, business professionals, local university students, and community leaders in interactive volunteer experiences that serve our youth directly. The volunteers are the driving force of the competition events and this year's goal is to have that force solidified as early as possible! Over 150 volunteers are needed for one Saturday - so teams of volunteers are highly encourage!
Volunteer experiences include the opportunity to be a speech or interview judge. As ASCE-OC Branch members would be wonderful models for professionalism and engagement in the community, you and your colleagues are invited to be volunteer judges. Volunteers will be placed on panels to conduct the speech component for local high school students competing in the Academic Decathlon competition. The mission is to inspire academic excellence and build 21st century skills that prepare Orange County students for college and career. If you're interested in being a part of that effort in January 2016, please use the registration links and contact information in the flyer to join the volunteer team!
