ASCE OC Annual Golf Tournament

2016 Annual ASCE OC Golf Tournament – We hit the 100 mark!

One hundred players (a milestone first for ASCE OC) attended the 2016 Annual ASCE OC Golf Tournament held this past June 10th at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, CA.  ASCE OC-Branch, ASCE OC-Younger Member Forum (YMF), and ASCE Student Chapters (UC Irvine and CSU Fullerton) each provided volunteers to register and welcome the players from local civil engineering firms, public agencies, and product/service vendors.

Participants were encouraged to grab a breakfast sandwich and coffee prior to hitting the course. Once the rules and scramble play format were described by Oak Creek, all the players rode their carts to their designated tees to kick off the tournament. Once again this year we had some great booth sponsors providing “support” to all players. Koury Engineering & C-Below’s booth provided an awesome margarita station (which is now becoming a ritual!). Upon returning to at the Oak Creek Clubhouse, players were enjoyed a buffet lunch banquet (courtesy of our Lunch Sponsor – Hill International) and purchased last-minute raffle tickets. The luncheon featured some closing remarks from Steven King, President of ASCE OC Branch in addition to an announcement thanking all of the Annual and Golf Tournament Sponsors that helped make the event a successful one. The banquet also featured raffle prizes that were awarded to the lucky winners which included new Taylormade golf equipment, certificates for year-long membership at Oak Creek Golf Club, Angels tickets, wine from San Antonio Winery, as well as numerous restaurant and retail gift cards, among other prizes.

Players competed for best scores in both Gross and Net categories. This year’s winning teams were:

1st Place (Gross) – Team 14B (Group Delta):  John Thume, Nolan Moore, Tom Nicolai, and Dan Hughes

1st Place (Net) – Team 16A (Hatch Mott MacDonald): Joe Gallardo, Joey Mendoza, Steve Bray, and guest.

2nd Place (Net): CNC Engineering (Clement Calvillo, Joshua Nelson, Chris Lum, Alex Moreno)

3rd Place (Net): Jacobs (Walt Quesada, Tom Sardo, Merideth Cann, Andrew Gensh)
