Volunteering from Home in 2020
The Community Service Committee would like to thank everyone who “volunteered from home” with us during 2020! We collected 14 STEM activity kits for Illumination Foundation families, donated $390 to Ronald McDonald House, participated in the annual Coastal Cleanup 2020 version: Clean Up Your Happy Place, and collected and donated supplies for dozens of hygiene kits for SONRIE to distribute in Ojos Negros, Mexico! 2020-2021 Mentorship Program Kick-off Pair Reveal Event!

Finding the Words
I presume that if you’re reading this article, you probably became an engineer because your affinity for the language arts was not as strong as for math and sciences (assuming you even liked language arts at all). While I personally enjoy writing and have been told that I am not terrible at it, I still find writing articles like the ones for this column to be challenging. Impacts of COVID-19 September 2020
On August 19th, ASCE Orange County Branch and Government Relations Committee hosted a virtual luncheon panel on Infrastructure Funding During COVID-19. Pathways Academy 2020
Established in 2019, the ASCE OC Pathways Academy is a three-part summer program that introduces university students to the various civil engineering disciplines through our "Engineering Your Future" Speaker Series Event, Company Tour Seminars, and valuable professional networking opportunities. The goal of this program is to bridge the gap between academia and industry by encouraging students to explore all their potential career options. Joint Pavement Rehab and Engineering Virtual Event
ASCE OC/SD YMF held the Pavement Rehab and Engineering joint virtual event on Tuesday, June 23rd. Roger Schlierkamp, Director of Pavement Engineering at GMU, gave a pavement engineering/rehab presentation that focused on the factors that impact pavement performance and cost. More »

I-405 Widening Construction Technical Tour

ASCE Orange County had the great pleasure to participate and volunteer for the 8th Annual Pump It Up For Platelets 5K on November 9, 2019 at the William R. Mason Regional Park. The annual 5K is aimed at raising awareness about Immune Thrombocytopenia, better known as ITP. More »
