In Memoriam Hugh Berry

Fullerton city officials are mourning the loss of a former city employee who played a major role in shaping the landscape of the city today. Hugh L. Berry, who, in his 32 years with the city, held the titles of assistant city manager, director of engineering, city engineer, and executive director of the Fullerton  Redevelopment Agency, died Oct. 26 at his Fullerton home.  Death was due to natural causes. Why the Lyon Air Museum

Younger Member Forum Members Participate in Corazon Home Build

By: Roxanne Follis On Saturday, August 27, a group of about 20 YMF members and CSUF and UCI students went to Chula Vista, CA and met with other Corazon volunteers. Corazon is a non-profit organization that develops communities in Mexico by building homes and encouraging support within the community.  More »

YMF - Second Harvest Food Bank

On June 23, 2016 a group of YMF members went to volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, CA. Joining forces with other local companies and non-profit groups, volunteers at the food bank sorted hundreds of oranges that would be distributed to hungry families all across the region. More »

In Memoriam Gary Gilbert

Gary Gilbert passed away from heart complications while attending an event at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday evening, August 30. Gary was involved in many activities and played an important role in people’s lives; he had been actively involved with ASCE for more than 20 years, serving many leadership roles within ASCE Orange County and Los Angeles Branches (most recently as Immediate Past President of ASCE Orange County Branch).  We are saddened by the loss of such an influential and giving person, his time was cut short and he will be dearly missed.  For information on the memorial service and how to honor his life... Forest Service

By William Rapp On June 21st, Greg Henk from ASCE Orange County Branch (ASCE OC)/Engineers Without Borders Orange County (EWB-OC) and Will Rapp from Engineers Without Borders Los Angeles (EWB-LA) met with several Forest Service (FS) team members and 2 new interested engineers from CSLA (Joan E. Santiago & Araceli Contreras), at the Wildwood Picnic Site in the Angeles National Forest.  The intent was to further the plans for EWB/ASCE to partner with the Forest Service in enhancing the experience for the public visiting this picnic site along Big Tujunga Canyon Road. Farewell

I, my wife Robyn along with Jenny Mital and Adrian Cortez (ASCE-YMF) celebrated Engineers Week at Castille Elementary School (Capo District).  We started with an overview of what a Civil Engineer is and what we do (including oohs & aahs from the kids), followed by student construction of Lego “towers” and an exercise in earthquake testing of the towers. YMF - Families Helping Families Become an Elf
