- Project Description:
Renovation of the old Donald Dungan Library to be the new LEED Gold Norma Hertzog Community Center. The facility required new framing, HVAC system, plumbing, and electrical upgrades. The community center received new exterior glazing, advanced audio visual equipment, upgraded restrooms, offices, a catering kitchen, stage, fire sprinkler system, and landscaping. The new community center can accommodate up to 330 persons in the main assembly room and 100 persons in the adjacent conference room.
- Project Justification:
This project is LEED Gold certified and provides a venue for patrons to celebrate and host various occasions and events. This project was completed ruing a global pandemic.
- Special Circumstances:
The contractor, Tovey/Shultz Construction, and the City, worked closely together with great synergy to complete this project despite the construction challenges of retrofitting an existing building and dealing with labor and material shortages during a global pandemic.
