Class 1 Bike Trail from Escencia

Project Location:

Rancho Mission Viejo

Project Description:

Rancho Mission Viejo and The County of Orange designed and constructed approximately 1.5 miles of Class 1 Bike Trail beginning at the intersection of Esencia and Cow Camp Road. The Trail goes to the east through San Juan Creek and into the latest Rancho Mission Viejo development, Rienda. This portion of the trail is part of system of Class 1 bike trails that stretch from Antonio Parkway to Ortega Highway through Rancho Mission Viejo. The Trail provides an off road Class 1 pathway providing links to major roadways through alternate modes of transportation.

Project Justification:

This project helps expand the bikeway system with the County of Orange and surrounding neighborhoods. The design utilized a previously disturbed access pathway and therefore limited the amount of environmental impacts associated with a new road.

Special Circumstances:

The project was a joint effort between the County of Orange and Rancho Mission Viejo to create another successful project to benefit the people using the Class 1 bikeway.
