On September 5, 2014 the ASCE OC Branch, in conjunction with Rancho Mission Viejo (RMV), hosted a tour of Cow Camp Road Bridge located east of the I-5 and north of Ortega Highway in Rancho Mission Viejo.
History and Heritage - Galveston Bay Vacation

In June 2014 Carl and Donna Nelson visited civil engineer friends who live at a bayside residence. They had the opportunity for a waterside tour of Galveston Bay and share with the ASCE OC membership a historical accounting of the area and a civil engineers perspective of the vacation.

Sustainability Committee - Water Bond

On August 13th, AB 1471 was passed with near unanimous support replacing the previous 2009 Water Bond which could never quite make it to the ballot. This legislation signed by Governor Jerry Brown, creates a new water called Proposition 1 Water Quality, Supply and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014 and will show up on the Nov. 4, 2014 election ballot.
Law and CE News - No Laughing Matter

A great tool to control risk is the LOL—limitation of liability clause, not the common abbreviation for “laugh out loud.” The LOL clause can cap the level of exposure to a contract claim to a set dollar amount.

The ASCE Orange County Branch– Disaster/Emergency Preparedness Committee held its first Safety Assessment Program (SAP) training to prepare professional engineers and certified inspectors to respond to the aftermath of disasters and assist in evaluation of structures and lifelines.
