By Steven Marvin, PE Election of new officers has been completed. The results will be announced at the August B-B-Q and will be in the September Newsletter. Along with the election, committees are now being formed to carry on the many tasks of our Professional organization. The direction and accomplishments of our Branch in 1986/87 and beyond will be determined by a combination of these committees and the elected officers, along with the eleven committees which appear on the back of the Newsletter. Jack Howe is in the process of forming a committee to assist in the upcoming 1987 ASCE Fall Conference to be held at the Disneyland Hotel. Fill out the committee card which was included in the June Newsletter, or phone one of the current Committee Chairpersons to become actively involved in the Orange County Branch of ASCE. The approach of September marks both the end of summer and the end of the 'grace' period associated with dues payment. Soon, ASCE National will drop Members of the Society for non-payment. Check your records and protect your membership. Problems have recently developed where one check for more than one member, especially where companies pay the membership dues, is not credited to all the listed engineers or where payment is not credited for local Section or Branch membership. Don't let this happen to you! Call ASCE if you have questions regarding your status The annual Branch Field Trip/B-B-Q is this month. The tour and B-B-Q to follow will be worth the time spent. The Program Committee has worked hard to make it a success and your presence will guarantee the outcome. . . be there.
