YMF - Mentorship Program Mid-Year Check-in

By: Melissa Hilsabeck

The Mentorship Program completed its Mid-Year Check-in event on April 21st at HDR. Mentors and Protégés were able to share their experiences with other pairs as well as provide feedback on the program and events. The protégés expressed the value in hearing their mentor’s experiences both in the office and in their personal lives; one mentor is even teaching their protégé how to play golf!  An overall consensus seemed to be that the protégés feel more confident moving forward in their careers with the support of an experienced mentor to guide them along their way.

ASCE’s Mentorship Program has been a great experience. I have been able to build a relationship with someone who has provided their knowledge and guidance regarding my work and life goals. My mentor is not just a professional whom I bounce ideas off of, but a person I can also call a friend. I believe the mentorship program provides young and experienced professionals the opportunity to learn from each other, and build a relationship that will last a lifetime. – Isamar Escobar

There are several OC Branch and YMF events coming up that the pairs are encouraged to attend and one more Mentorship Program event before the End-of-the-Year banquet to conclude this year’s program. If you are interesting in becoming a mentor or would like to be a protégé for the 2016-2017 year, the applications will be open beginning in August!
