YMF - Officer Retreat

By Roxanne Follis

On the weekend of October 12, 2012, the new officers of ASCE OC YMF had a retreat in Las Vegas. The goal of the retreat was to allow for new board members to get to know each other and develop strategies to meet the upcoming year’s goals. The newly appointed president, Ravi Shah, gave a presentation on the objectives and goals for this year. This year’s goals are to improve public image, increase membership, increase member participation, create a sustainable board, and maintain financial stability. The vice president, Gidti Ludesirishoti, gave a presentation on the new technology ASCE OC YMF will utilize to make the club more organized and keep members more informed of events.  The ASCE OC YMF website is undergoing changes to make it more user-friendly, which will be very beneficial to the club and all of its members. Daniel Kim, the new treasurer, presented and explained the club’s budget for this year. All three presentations were very well-prepared and engaging. After the presentations, there was a brainstorming session in which all members openly contributed their innovative ideas. When all the work was finished, the board members enjoyed a fun night out on The Strip.

Overall, the retreat was a great success. It was an excellent opportunity for the new officers to bond and share ideas. The 2012-2013 ASCE OC YMF Board is very dedicated to making this upcoming year, which happens to be the year of the ASCE Centennial, remarkable.
