"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." - Oprah Winfrey
It is officially awards season, and not just for the entertainment industry, but for the engineering industry too! Engineers have a lot to celebrate and we have done just that! Locally, for example, we did so at our ASCE OC Branch Awards Dinner. Worldwide, we celebrated Engineers Week and released the Dream Big Film. Although February has been an action-packed month, filled with events that celebrate engineering projects and individuals, it has also served as an opportunity for us to share how engineers make a difference worldwide.
With over 270 attendees and a "Roaring 20's" theme, the ASCE OC Branch 2017 Awards Dinner celebrated projects and engineers that help improve the quality of life for us all in Orange County. CLICK HERE for a list of the award winners and see below for photos from the event.
Engineers Week (i.e., E-Week) is a week-long event that celebrates the work that engineers do, while also increasing public knowledge and inspiring future engineers. Be sure to use #eweek2017 when sharing all of your photos, events, and activities via social media. See below for some of my favorite posts!
On February 15th, I had the honor of attending the Dream Big World Premie, where I got the chance to watch the film in IMAX and 3D with my mom. As a first generation college graduate, I have found it quite difficult to explain engineering, my passion for advocacy, and desire to volunteer to my parents. Dream Big is not only an incredible film that highlights great projects, stories, and individuals, but it has now also become a tool that I can use to explain engineering to my loved ones. It's almost impossible to watch the film and not leave feeling inspired! See below for a few photos from the event.
Let's keep the celebration going! I am super excited to share that I will be participating in the DiscoverE Global Marathon! I am looking forward to the rest of the programming as well. We have great topics and speakers lined up! There is even a session on the Dream Big Film, which includes three women featured in the film! If you haven’t already done so, register now!
