Seeking Officer Nominations for Upcoming Term


Orange County Engineering Council

Call for Nominations for Executive Committee Members!

OCEC will be conducting the annual election of its Executive Committee members during the first week of June, 2017, and each of the OCEC members are invited to consider serving on the committee. OCEC is fortunate to have a dedicated group of leaders which is committed to seeing the success of the organization. While nothing beats the in depth experience in getting things done, many of the current Executive Committee members have served multiple terms and are ready to incorporate fresh ideas and energy into the group. With the help of new members serving alongside the more experienced members, OCEC is looking forward to see its phenomenal growth in future.  

Following are the open positions which will be included on the 2017 Ballot.

President-Elect (2017-19)
The President-Elect shall work closely with the President throughout the term of the office, and be responsible for any tasks assigned by the President. 
The President-Elect, in the absence of the President, shall perform the duties of the President. In case of vacancy in the office of the President, the President-Elect shall assume the position of the President and complete the unexpired term of the President. The President shall appoint an interim President-Elect to complete the remaining term of office.
 
VP-Engineering (2017-19)
The VP-Engineering shall be responsible for the planning and administration of the Engineers’ Week activities. This officer will serve as the Engineers’ Week Chairperson.
This candidate will be responsible for:
•    Seeking nominations for suitable awards to be presented at the Engineers’ Week Honors and Awards Banquet. 
•    Formulating a Selection Committee to review the nominations and selecting candidates and projects for suitable awards.
•    Presenting the Banquet related plans and budget requirements to the OCEC Board.
 
VP-Professional Societies (2017-19)
The VP-Professional Societies shall be responsible for the coordination of the OCEC activities with Professional Societies, and to solicit membership in OCEC. 
 
This candidate will be responsible for:
•    Keeping up to date records of contact information of Society Officers, Delegates, and Alternates.
•    Encouraging Society attendance and support at OCEC meetings.
•    Coordinating visitation programs between Officers of the OCEC and individual Society meetings.
•    Assisting the VP-Engineering in seeking nominations for suitable awards at the Engineers’ Week Honors and Awards Banquet.
 
VP-Corporate Partners (2017-19)
The VP-Corporate Partners shall be responsible for the coordination of activities with corporate partners. 
Candidate’s responsibilities will include: 
•    Encouraging attendance of the corporate delegates at the OCEC meetings, and promoting their active participation and support of the OCEC activities.
•    Solicitation of contributions from the corporate members.
•    Assisting the VP-Engineering in seeking nominations for suitable awards at the Engineers’ Week Honors and Awards Banquet.
 
VP-Educational Partners (2017-19)
The VP-Educational Partners shall be responsible for the coordination of the OCEC activities with the Engineering/Scientific Educational Institutions.
Candidate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
•    Soliciting proposals for promoting educational activities such as scholarships for deserving students, STE(A)M and MESA programs.
•    Submitting a budget to the Board of Directors for contributions that can be made to deserving programs and coordinating the awarding of said scholarships.
•    Encouraging attendance of the educational partner delegates at OCEC meetings, and promoting their active participation and support of the OCEC activities.
•    Solicitation of contributions from the education institution members.
•    Assisting the VP-Engineering in seeking nominations for suitable awards at the Engineers’ Week Honors and Awards Banquet.
 
VP-Communications (2017-19)
The VP-Communications is responsible for managing the publicity activities for the OCEC. The publicity activities may include, but are not limited to, operation of the OCEC website, publication of a newsletter and the mailing of information bulletins, as well as publicity in the local newspapers and member website links.
The candidate will be responsible for:
•    Implementation, maintenance and updating of the OCEC website.
•    Ensuring that all the news related to the OCEC activities are promptly posted on the OCEC website and are published in a timely manner in the OCEC newsletter.
