OC Firm Spotlight
Since 1968, when then- Governor Ronald Reagan dedicated Saddleback College as an "institution of opportunity and fulfillment", GMU Geotechnical has been at the core of Orange County's commitment to the development and prosperity of planned communities.
Originally Evans, Goffman & McCormick, our inception fortuitously coincided with some of the most transformational projects in Southern California’s history. Our initial focus on geologically complex hillsidegrading eventually expanded to a more holistic approach that encompasses many specialty services not typically associated with most geotechnical firms. With a fully accredited soil, rock and materials laboratory on the premises, we maintain principal involvement in all projects that include:
- Blast Consulting and Vibration Monitoring
- Pavement Evaluation and Design
- Structural Design and Specifications for Retaining Structures
- Civil Design for Geotechnical Projects
- Construction Management for Landslide Sites
- Special Inspection Services
- Forensic Evaluation and Expert Witness Work
Most important to our company identity is our ongoing reputation as a trusted consultant and objective partner in furthering our clients' interests. Despite economic conditions, we choose projects that promote the historical and physical integrity of Orange County’s land, having been the principal firm to oversee both Ranch and coastal initiatives. We believe our employees are among the industry’s best and most satisfied which explains our exceptionally high retention rate (many current employees have been with us for 20+ years) and positive client experience. Whether working to win new business or in our hiring practices, our emphasis on seeking the “right” kind of relationship allows us to maintain a special commitment to both our people and projects.
Today, GMU is a multi-partner firm comprised of Gary Urban, Greg Silver, Mike Moscrop & Aaron Taylor. In both our services and reputation, we are proud to have grown with Orange County for more than 40 years. Industry integrity, loyalty to our clients and personnel and innovative, responsible land stewardship continue to be our guiding principles as we look to the next 40 years of company and community prosperity.
