Continuing Education Committee
Thank You IRWD
The ASCE Continuing Education Committee organized the Sewer and Water Design and Construction Seminar on Friday, July 29 at the IRWD facility. We would like to thank the Irvine Ranch Water District for hosting our event at their beautiful facility.
The seminar was a great success, as we had 50 people in attendance! Registration fees resulted in nearly $4,000, which will be used to support student scholarships. We also want to recognize the excellent seminar presenters, Mike Hoolihan (IRWD), Malcolm Cortez (IRWD), Tom Epperson (Tetra Tech), Mark Bush (Tetra Tech), and Bill Stewart (IRWD) for volunteering many hours of their time.
The presenters were successful in relaying valuable information to the audience. The seminar provided attendees with a broad understanding of the master planning process, IRWD subdivision design, and plan preparation. Conclusion of the seminar consisted of a discussion about construction challenges and common design pitfalls. Attendees were given resources for further research that should assist them in their design.
