Charcuterie Night

This year we were unable to have our Annual Wine Trip event due to the limitations caused by the pandemic. Nevertheless, I was determined to have an event equally as fun that captured the spirit of the Wine Trip. And with that goal in mind, I began planning our first ever Charcuterie Night! I reached out to a local OC based charcuterie business and got in touch with Lauren from loverboardsoc. She was excited to work with us and lead a private event for our YMF members. Lauren provided everyone a DIY charcuterie kit to follow along during her lesson. Each DIY kit came with 3 cheeses, meat, berries, nuts, crackers, spread, and garnishes all packaged in a cute carboard box. Lauren recommended pinot noir or chardonnay to pair with the charcuterie kit in spirit of the wine trip. DIY kits delivered and wine uncorked, participating YMF members all met together via Zoom on March 26th to assemble their charcuterie kits. Lauren expertly guided us on how to turn our kits into beautiful charcuterie masterpieces. After we finished following along, Lauren continued her lesson on how to assemble larger boards with tips and tricks while we enjoyed eating our charcuterie. After the lesson was done, YMF members stuck around and enjoyed talking and laughing together as we socialized over our wine and charcuterie. Overall, the Charcuterie Night was a great success and we were able to have fun together and enjoy each other’s company over a glass of wine.

Raul Rodriguez is a roadway engineer at HNTB. He has been involved in YMF since he graduated from UCI in 2019. He enjoys playing soccer on weekends, watching movies with his family, or a good board game (Citadels is his favorite).
