Geraldine Trivedi, PE Appointed to CA Board of Professional Engineers

Geraldine Pilar Trivedi, 44, of Palos Verdes Peninsula, has been appointed to the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. Trivedi has served as a civil engineer for the City of Redondo Beach since 2009 and was a civil engineer for the City of Huntington Beach from 2001 to 2009. She was a senior environmental engineer at Disneyland from 1998 to 2001 and an engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation from 1993 to 1998. More »

Represented at White House Transportation Summit

On June 27, Diaz Yourman & Associates President Christopher Diaz represented the ASCE Orange County branch at a meeting with a group of key infrastructure stakeholders at the White House including small and large business leaders, current ASCE Past-President Kathy Caldwell, state and local government transit agency leaders, and Administration officials to discuss strategies for creating  “Jobs of the Future” in the infrastructure and transportation sector.  More »

Time to Change the Message on Infrastructure

When ASCE started more actively engaging politians and the public about the urgent need to invest in infrastructure, every year we were making great progress.  At that time it felt like we were on the edge of finally addressing the infrastructure funding shortfalls.  In 2006, California passed bond measures for both transportation and water, closed loopholes in the use of the gas tax for transportation, and Orange County extended Measure M.  Then in 2008, voters approved the bond for high speed rail and Los Angeles County passed Measure R. ASCE MLAB Govenment Affairs Event July 202

The Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch of ASCE is hosting a revamped Engineers & Politics Seminar on  Saturday, August 4th from 8 am - 3 pm at the Los Angeles Athletic Club in Downtown LA (431 West 7th Street, 90014).  This one-day seminar is geared to motivate engineers to change the political environment. State of Infrastructure

Region 9 held the 6th Annual California Infrastructure Symposium in Sacramento on February 28th and I had the opportunity to attend this year.  I would like to share some of the highlights of the event.   The presentation from Mac Taylor of the California Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO) was very enlightening.
