ASCE UCI invites all ASCE OC members to share their experiences
The ASCE Student Chapter at University of California Irvine (ASCE UCI) has dedicated and passionate members.  We hold bi-weekly meetings and an average of thirty students attend.  The activities at the meetings range from social events to guest speakers.  ASCE UCI works with the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Affiliates to find guest speakers from local civil engineering firms to give a presentation at our meetings. » Read More

In this article I am going to share my experiences, and hopefully show the impacts that ASCE has on civil engineering students.  I joined ASCE as a student so I could be co-lead for the canoe team at Cal State Long Beach.   One of the responsibilities as co-lead for the canoe team was to participate in general meetings.  During the general meetings we had the opportunity to see presentations from local civil engineering companies, and this was my first exposure to what a real civil engineer does. » Read More

ASCE OC – Annual Achievement Award
Christine Truong is this year’s ASCE Annual Achievement Award recipient. As a student at California State University of Long Beach, Christine Truong began her involvement with the ASCE student chapter in her first year as a civil engineering student.  Since then she has demonstrated a strong sense of leadership by participating in the concrete canoe row team in the 2009-2010 school year and as secretary of her ASCE student chapter in the 2010-2011 school year.  Not only has she been active within her own ASCE student chapter, she has also shown enthusiasm in other engineering associations.  She has served as an Associated Engineering Student Body Senator at Cal State Long Beach.  During her tenure as President of the Engineers Without Borders Student Chapter, the association has seen an increase in membership due to Christine’s outreach efforts that have resulted in a truly multidisciplinary group of students. » Read More
