PhD -UCLA- Focus: Research—“Testing and Modelling of Reinforced Concrete Coupling Beams” under Professor John Wallace.
Assistant Professor: California State University,Fullerton at Civil and Environmental Engineering Department since Aug 2010. Since he joined he became active in experimental research and he collaborated with others. He worked with me (Dr. Pinaki Chakrabarti)in experimental research work, where pre-stressed slabs were tested and repaired with CFRP. We had joint publications (published in conference proceedings). He started another project where he collaborated with UCLA (Dr. John Wallace) and coached a graduate student in another experiment involving Beam-Wall joint.
David is a gentle, polite and pleasant person. He is well liked by the students. He is now our ASCE student Chapter adviser. I think, in future he will contribute a lot to the new generation of students and to the department.
- Contribution to the Profession:
He published in professional magazine (with his mentor)while he was a student. He published here at CSUF (with me) Now he is ready for several new publications where he coached new students and completed very successful experiments.
He performs his normal civic duties and he is a very rational person. He is also a good teacher.
- Suggested Award Summary:
Dr. David Naish is a young conscious new generation engineering educator. Students will greatly benefit from his teaching and research and so is the industry. Not only he is knowledgeable in the the theory but also he is well qualified for hands on structural engineering experiments which the students need so much today. In course of of time he will be a valuable member of the engineering department.
