He has actively become aware of all our quarterly activities and has made the effort to attend events such as our general meetings, fundraisers, career fair, and networking events. Professor Lanning joined UCI this Fall Quarter 2017 as a Professor for various structural engineering courses and has become a member of various UCI organizations. He has been the new ASCE at UCI faculty advisor, a member of UCI’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Affiliates, and a member of UCI’s Civil & Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Affairs Committee. He was previously a professor at California State University Fullerton also as a professor for structural courses and an ASCE faculty advisor.

Civic:

Professor Lanning is an inspired professor. As a student of his, it is evident that he has found a way to teach students in a manner that helps them not only understand the course material, but to connect it to real applications and show examples connecting the two. With previous industry experience, he understands the importance of making the connection between a simple homework problem to a professional engineering project. This is a huge contribution to the younger generations still learning all the basic tools to becoming a civil engineer for many years to come.
