The Huntington Beach seawater desalination plant is one of the largest projects currently under developments in Southern California. This project will use state-of-the art reverse osmosis membrane technology to produce 50 million gallons per day (MGD) of fresh drinking water from approximately 100 MGD of seawater. The desalination plant is planned to be collocated with the existing AES Hunthington Beach coastal power generation station with currently uses seawater for once-through cooling.
